Line of Autumn Trees

trees in autumn red colors

“How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.”

― John Burroughs

This autumn the trees have seemed extra beautiful. Each day the leaves change a bit more, some falling to the ground so people can shuffle through the crunchy leaves. I'm going to enjoy the colors before the last remaining leaves fall as we head into the coming winter.

Colorful Fall Trees in Provo Canyon

fall colored trees in Provo Canyon

Red, yellow, orange, and brown speckle the trees during the autumn. The canyons were beautiful to travel through. I'm so glad to live so close to beautiful nature.

Sunburst Through the Trees

sunburst shining down through the trees

While walking along the river trail in our town, I took a moment to look up through the trees. The sun was shining down through the leaves and I loved the sunburst that came through in this photo.

Take a moment in your busy life to find the sunshine!

Red Wishing Well in the Countryside

red wishing well in countryside lakeshore utah

What a quaint place to make a wish. As I was driving through the peaceful countryside near my home, I came upon this little red wishing well. I captured the image with my camera, then thought of what my wish for the future would be. What wish would you make?

Autumn Leaves on the Tree

colorful red leaves on the tree in fall

There is something warm and inviting about the colors of the world in autumn. Red, orange, brown, and yellow blend together to brighten the landscape before the starkness of winter.

The leaves are turning amazing colors here and it's the perfect time of the year to be outside and enjoying the beauty that can be seen.

Autumn Leaf

Autumn has arrived and the leaves have started to change color and fall. It's the perfect time of year to be outside, enjoy the cool weather, and look at the beauty of the natural world.

The evenings are still light, so family walks have been enjoyable lately. The leaves have started to fall and I was struck by the beauty of this red leaf that was alone in the green grass.

The leaves falling remind me of many fun afternoons I had as a child, walking home from school and shuffling my feet through inches of fallen leaves. It makes me want to take my family up the canyons and find leaves to play in!

I hope you enjoy the fall weather and take time to venture out into nature to enjoy the beauty of our wonderful world!

Pathway Lined with Trees

I love pathways that are lined with trees and create a shady arch to walk under. In the spring and summer you can enjoy the bright green leaves as you walk, and in the autumn you can shuffle through the brown fallen leaves.

Pathway lined with trees in the spring at Brigham Young Winter Home in St George

This photo is a perfect example of always having your camera ready. My family went to St George, Utah for a short visit. As we were walking around the houses near downtown, I decided to bring my camera with us. Not too surprising if you know me! We walked to the winter home of Brigham Young and this view was along the side of the house. I snapped my picture and just a moment later groups of people started walking around the house and all over the beautiful grounds. If I had waited just a bit to take my photo, it would have been another 10 minutes before I got a chance to have a picture without groups of people in it.

If you are a budding photographer, one of the best ways to improve your photography is to practice. Have your camera with you (either your point and shoot, DSLR, or even your phone) and ready to take photos. Lombardy Poplars in the Fog

Growing up in western Washington in a city right on the Puget Sound, I'm used to fog blanketing the area in the mornings until the sun comes out. Here in Utah it's not quite as common.

lombardy poplars disappearing into the fog on a snowy morning

One winter morning I was out and saw the soccer field covered with fresh snow on a foggy morning. I grabbed my camera to take a photo of the poplar trees fading away into the fog. There are about 25 trees that line the field and seeing them disappear into the thick fog was so interesting.

It was such a peaceful morning and I was glad to be out in the fresh air and be able to capture this serene moment.
