Rocks at Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a beautiful spot to stop and visit as you travel in Nevada or California. The calm water and stunning sky will make your stop or detour worth it.

We visited Crystal Bay where there is public beach access. There is a small fee to park in the official parking lot, but you can also park in the little community too.

The water was cool and refreshing during our visit in May. I imagine it feels even better during the hot summer months! Most of the beach is rocky and you can find interesting wildlife among the large rocks. We saw many birds and even a tiny snake when we moved one of the rocks.

Minnie Mouse is a sweet member of the Disney family. Make sure to visit her statue in Disneyland. It's in a prime location any time of the year - she sits in the circle in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

Sunset Palm Trees at Cabrillo Beach

Sunset is always a beautiful time of the day, but add in the beach and it is just a bit more special. Walking along the soft sand and listening to the waves crash as the sun sinks lower is amazingly peaceful.

When we visited California last November, we took a trip to the beach at sunset. We visited Cabrillo Beach in the San Pedro area. The beach was emptying for the day and we had the harbor side and ocean side to ourselves.

Pacific Ocean at La Jolla Children's Cove

When you visit San Diego, you can't pass up the opportunity to take a trip to the beach. There are some beaches where you can watch the Pacific Ocean crash against the rock outcroppings. La Jolla is a beautiful place and definitely worth the visit.

La Jolla Children's Cove in San Diego Ocean Beach

When we visited California last year, we enjoyed a few days in San Diego. We searched online to find the perfect beach to visit. La Jolla Children's Cove came up on our search and we decided to spend a bit of time there. The tide was coming in and my children has a lot of fun watching the water crash against the rocks, the pelicans flying and landing on the cliff, and walking down to the beach so we could get a closer look at the seals that were basking in the sun on the sand.

Breaker Wall Point Mencinger Children's Cove San Diego California Ocean Waves

The day we went, the waves were crashing high against the breaker wall at Point Mencinger (same beach as the Children's Cove). We didn't walk on the breaker wall because I was worried that we would be washed away into the ocean, but it was amazing to watch the waves crash against and over the wall.

Lobster at Cabrillo Beach California

Last fall my family took a trip to California. We visited Cabrillo Beach in the LA area. We pulled into the parking lot and got ready to head down to the sand and waves.

On our walk to the beach, two surfers asked if we wanted to see something cool. We headed over and one pulled this lobster out of the back of their truck! They had been over by the pier and caught this guy and a fish. How cool!

This lobster was still moving around and it was so neat to see. He kindly let me take a photo, which was wonderful because I didn't want to forget this unique experience!
